Brand / company MARUSAN
Hazard / issue The CFS, through its Food Incident Surveillance System, noted a notification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, that the above-mentioned product was being recalled in Japan due to a possible quality problem. Upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately contacted local importers for follow-up. A preliminary investigation revealed that the above-mentioned importer had imported into Hong Kong the affected batches of the product concerned.
Remedy / action
- To stop consuming the affected product and seek medical treatment if they feel unwell after consuming the product concerned.
- The CFS has instructed the above-mentioned importer to stop sale and remove from shelves the affected product, and to initiate a recall.
- The CFS will alert the trade to the incident, and continue to follow up and take appropriate action.
- An investigation is ongoing.
- Stop using or selling the affected batches of the product concerned immediately if they possess them.

Hong Kong CFS food alert Not to consume batch of Japanese bottled alcoholic drink with potential leakage and bottle breakage risk
The CFS received a notification from the importer that the above-mentioned product may have a risk of leakage due to an increase in pressure inside the bottle. The importer confirmed that it had imported into Hong Kong the affected batch of the product concerned, and has therefore voluntarily initiated a recall as a precautionary measure." Risk assessment of the CFS showed that the increase of pressure inside the bottle may pose a risk of bottle breakage.

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) received a notification from the Macao authorities that the above-mentioned bottled water was detected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Pseudomonas aeruginosa found in bottled water may indicate contamination of the water source and/or during the manufacture, packaging, transport and storage process. The presence of a large amount of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in packaged water can be associated with changes in taste, odour and turbidity, but rarely causes severe diseases to healthy persons generally.
