Hazard / issue The CFS received a notification from the importer that the above-mentioned product may have a risk of leakage due to an increase in pressure inside the bottle. The importer confirmed that it had imported into Hong Kong the affected batch of the product concerned, and has therefore voluntarily initiated a recall as a precautionary measure." Risk assessment of the CFS showed that the increase of pressure inside the bottle may pose a risk of bottle breakage.
Remedy / action
- Consumers should not consume the affected batch of the product if they have purchased any.
- The importer concerned has voluntarily stopped sales, removed the affected product from shelves and initiated a recall.
- The CFS will alert the trade to the incident, continue to follow up and take appropriate action.
- Investigation is ongoing.
- The trade should stop using or selling the affected batch of the product immediately if they possess it.

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) received a notification from the RASFF of the European Commission that the above-mentioned product is under recall due to possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). According to the information provided by the RASFF, the affected batch of the product has been imported into Hong Kong. A preliminary investigation found that the above-mentioned importer had imported into Hong Kong the affected batch of the product concerned. People will contract STEC-causing gastro-intestinal disease through consumption of contaminated water or undercooked and contaminated foods. Intestinal bleeding and serious complications such as hemolytic uraemic syndrome may also develop in some people.
